Wholegrain rice is only husked. This procedure consists of removing the husk (outer layer which surrounds the grain); while the inner film that lines the grain, its peripheral layers and the germ are maintained. These parts of the grain contain high quantities of proteins, vitamins, minerals and fibers. Wholegrain rice is therefore easy to digest, ideal for a healthy and balanced diet. The maintenance of its peripheral layers means that its cooking time is significantly longer.
